pisode 32 of European Cricket Stories shines a light on leadership beyond the boundary. 🎙️

ECN Founder Daniel Weston sits down with Andrey Lilov, President of Cricket Bulgaria, whose journey into the sport began not through playing, but through business, logistics and management. Andrey explains how he was invited to take over the federation by the previous president, allowing the sporting side to be handled separately while he focused on structure, growth and delivery.

Over the past six years, Andrey has helped build a tightly run federation that delivers its objectives quickly and with purpose. His first ever experience with a cricket bat came during the ECS in Bulgaria, where he scored his first runs in competitive cricket, a moment that perfectly reflects his hands on approach to leadership.

Despite cricket being relatively new in Bulgaria, with the federation established just 22 years ago, Andrey outlines how passion for the game and a clear vision have driven progress. The conversation covers school based initiatives, youth development projects and the creation of a rapidly growing university league. These efforts are helping expand participation, develop homegrown talent and create a clear pathway to the national team.

This episode highlights how strong organisation, belief and love for the game can accelerate cricket’s growth even in smaller emerging nations.

New episodes of European Cricket Stories are released every Tuesday and Thursday, sharing the stories behind European cricket’s continued evolution.
