Episode 30 of European Cricket Stories takes us to the Channel Islands. 🎙️
ECN Founder Daniel Weston sits down with Sarah Gomersall, CEO of Jersey Cricket, to talk about a life shaped by the game from the very beginning. Sarah grew up in Yorkshire in a family of cricketers, with her brothers, father and grandfather all playing for Woodlands Cricket Club in the Bradford League.
Her own pathway into cricket came through scoring, spending countless midweek evenings and weekends at the ground. Cricket became part of her everyday life and remains deeply rooted in her upbringing.
Before moving into the cricket world full time, Sarah worked in finance. A professional opportunity brought her to Jersey, where she initially joined the Jersey Cricket Board as a Non Executive Director before stepping into the CEO role.
The conversation explores cricket development in Jersey, the strength and diversity of the local cricket community, the wide range of clubs and playing opportunities and the growing interest in women’s cricket across the island. This episode highlights how strong foundations and inclusive leadership continue to drive cricket forward in Jersey.
