FanCode ECS Hungary - Preview - All you need to know

Royal Tigers (ROT) and Cobra (COB) can boast previous experience in European Cricket Series Hungary last season and will definitely be the teams to beat at FanCode ECS Hungary which starts on Monday.

Formed in 2007, SEVEN-time Hungarian champions, Royal Tigers reigned supreme at European Cricket Series Hungary last season, progressing serenely through the competition unbeaten. ROT will be eyeing the silverware once again under the leadership of Marc Ahuja, also the skipper of the Hungarian national team.

Cobra finished runners-up, pushing the Tigers all the way and will aim to go one better in Budapest this time around. Satyadeep Ashwathnarayana is the figurehead, club founder, President, ex-Captain, Vice-Captain and Wicket keeper. The epitome of commitment, Satyadeep even played cricket on his wedding night (story to follow.)

Cobra boast the most experienced squad in the tournament, with an average age of 35, led by Jogi Sehgal, who has played at a decent level in top flight cricket in USA. Shiekh Rasik, a talented all-rounder, has also represented the Kashmir state team in India, while wily spinner Hafeez Ullah has played for clubs all around the world, including Pakistan.

Budapest Blinders, Blinders Blizzards and United Csalad are all making their ECS debuts. While Budapest Blinders are a new team, BUB can boast a brilliant all-rounder in Steffan Gooch, holder of amazing ECS record bowling figures of 6-2 from last summer and cousin of England legend Graham Gooch, arguably the most prolific batsman ever in the world game. Certainly handy Gooch family genes to have up your sleeve. Gooch will be ably supported by national team players Nishantha Liyanage, Maaz Bhaiji, Ali Yalmaz, Asanka Weligamage and Sandeep Mohandas in an exciting, fresh lineup.

Blinders Blizzards are the second string of Budapest Blinders, led by Sachin Chauhan who has been a fixture in the Hungarian cricket scene for the past six seasons. Rahul Goyal has been in great form with bat and ball this season and will be one to watch, along with big-hitting Turkish all-rounder Onur Ozkul. BLB will be hungry to spring a surprise or two against more established clubs at FanCode ECS Hungary, but could to find themselves on a huge learning curve in this tournament.

United Csalad are another new side, but many of their squad featured for Dunabogdany CC and Baggy Blues last time around in Hungary, including the ultra-talented Vinoth Ravindran. United Csalad have high hopes in Ashrith Darapureddy in his first season in Hungary. A quality left-arm spinner and top order batter who has played at a decent level in India. He once hit 11 sixes in a T20 game.
