Former England and Denmark paceman Amjad Khan wants to stage an "unbelievable and extraordinary" Dream11 European Cricket Series event in the Danish capital.

England test bowler Amjad Khan craves "unbelievable and extraordinary" Dream11 European Cricket Series event in Copenhagen

Amjad Khan became the youngest person ever to play for Denmark (aged only 17) and went on to play test cricket for England.

The first Dream11 European Cricket Series event was held in Alicante in March, with a host of events scheduled for the rest of the year all across Europe, before the COVID-19 crisis got in the way.

Speaking about a potential Dream11 European Cricket Series in Copenhagen, Amjad said: "That would be unbelievable and extraordinary."

Founded in Copenhagen in 1876, Kjøbenhavns Boldklub or "KB" is a multi-sports club where football and cricket have been played since 1879.

"Any club or any board would be stupid not to want that. At our club, there's about 24 of us who are all missing the game more than ever. It's the first time in thirty years that I haven't been playing cricket on 1st April. We are all waiting for restrictions to be lifted, so we can keep our distance on the field, but at least go play a little cricket."

Recalling his early days at KB, Amjad continued: "KB were always very supportive and looked after me very well. I had the key to the facilities and used to train ALL the time, as you do as a kid. KB facilitated loads for me.

“I just wanted to be as good as I could ever be. When I was 13, I realised I could bowl quick for my age. I progressed rapidly, playing senior cricket and finishing top of the averages aged only 15. I was bowling really fast at 15, then the interest came from abroad (England) and I got picked for Denmark.”

Denmark's first cricketing superstar, Ole Mortensen, who enjoyed a marvellous county career with Derbyshire himself, was the Denmark coach in Amjad's formative years.

"Ole gave me the confidence that I could go on to a higher level, aged 15," he said.

Commenting on his recent experience with the capital-city club: "I've been playing again for KB the last few seasons. We've won the 50-over championship here twice in a row, but unfortunately for us we didn't win the T20.

“There's some serious talent around at my club. It's now my job to pass on as much knowledge as I can and develop cricketers for the future.”
