“I am very excited to have the Swedish Cricket Federation join the European Cricket League for season 2020 and beyond,” said Daniel Weston, founder of the European Cricket League.

“The growth of the game in Sweden in recent years has been remarkable, thanks to the passion of the players, support of the Government and the hard work of Carolina Håkanson, Tariq Zuwak and the entire Federation.

“The ECL is an exciting platform for the entire Swedish cricketing community to showcase their talents and develop the game from the grass roots up. I look forward to Sweden’s champion club competing to see who will be crowned the “Kings of European cricket.”

Chairman of the Swedish Cricket Federation, Tariq Zuwak, said: "We are delighted to start a partnership with the ECL. We closely followed the successful ECL19 tournament which did a great deal for the development of European cricket. We did not want to miss out.

“We are honoured that Daniel and his team believe in Swedish cricket and that our champion club now has the opportunity to play in Europe’s premier club competition.

“It’s great news for Swedish cricket. Our clubs with ambitions to play at a higher level will be given new motivation to improve their skills.”
