Boosted by key performers, such as former Afghanistan international Izatullah Dawaltzai, Bundesliga champions Kummerfelder Sport Verein have lofty ambitions of building a squad capable of qualifying for future editions of the European Cricket League.
In his final outing for Afghanistan, Dawaltzai snared the precious wickets of World Cup winners Eoin Morgan and Jos Butler at the 2012 T20 World Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka. After finding his way to Germany, Dawaltzai unsurprisingly sits atop KSV’s leading batting and bowling stats.
While coaching football at the club, President Hassan Waseem paved the way for the formation of a cricket department in 2017. Remarkably, KSV sealed their first German championship only two years later in the 50over format.
Once COVID-19 is out, KSV, situated 30 minutes from Hamburg, have big plans for later this summer. “We are proud to have the opportunity to organize the very first edition of Dream11 European Cricket series in Kummerfeld,” said President Waseem.
