FanCode ECS Germany Kiel - Preview - All you need to know
Ten top teams from Northern Germany feature over 12 days in 48 high-intensity T10 matches. Every game will be live streamed worldwide on the European Cricket Network and on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent.
FanCode ECS Germany Kiel kicks off on Monday with an array of exciting talent from northern Germany keen to showcase their skills on the grand European Cricket stage.
Proud hosts 1. Kieler HTC have put in an enormous amount of work to stage this tournament and will look to reap the benefits of playing on home soil. 1. Kieler HTC have laid a new pitch and this series will be the first ever cricket played at the Kiel Cricket Ground.
Having emerged victorious in two tournaments on German soil last season, namely the Dream11 European Cricket Series Kummerfeld and ECN Hannover Hitout in 2020, and boasting a deep and talented squad, Kummerfelder Sportverein (KSV) has to be considered one of the favourites.
MTV Stallions boast decent experience and will mount a challenge in Group A. MTV were losing finalists on home soil at ECN Hannover Hitout and secured the Bronze Medal at Dream11 European Cricket Series Kummerfeld.
SC Europa and PSV Hann-Munden both have experience at this level, but often find it hard to produce consistent performances. PSV were good enough to top the group with four wins in five games and bowled out KSV for only 53 in the opening game of last year's tournament. KSV later gained revenge against PSV in the semi-finals on their way to the Dream11 European Cricket Series Kummerfeld title.
VFB Fallersleben won the Shield Final for fifth place at the Dream11 European Cricket Series Kummerfeld last summer. The team improved greatly as the tournament progressed and will look to continue that improvement in the new season.
1. Kieler HTC, THCC Hamburg, First Contact, Moorburger TSV and late call-ups SG Hameln are all making their ECS debut and will hope to spring a surprise or two along the way. Hosts 1. Kieler HTC look best equipped of the newcomers to go deep in the competition.
