Alby Zalmi CF were crowned winners of Fancode ECS Sweden Stockholm after a thrilling three-wicket win over ECS newbies Huddinge in the Final on Saturday. Sent into field first, ALZ were all over the opposition, restricting HUD to 68 all out in 9.4 overs.
Zia Alozai picked up three wickets in his two overs, conceding just four runs and was the star of the show for ALZ. However, HUD put in a strong fight early on in the second innings, taking three powerplay wickets and another off the first ball of the first over after the powerplay. At 19/4, it seemed like ALZ had lost their way, but Qudratullah Mir Afzai smashed 24 in 18 balls and Zia Alozai gave decent company with his priceless 11. With 12 to win in the last two overs, Mir Afzai was dismissed.
Five runs were required off the last over and when Alozai was dismissed off the fourth ball, we seemed to be headed for a Golden Ball, but Sami Khalil kept his nerve to take a single off the last ball and lead Alby Zalmi to the title.
