Five leading Italian sides, Royal Padova, Lonigo, Padova, Trentino Aquila and Venezia feature over six days in 24 scintillating T10 matches from wonderful Venice. Every game will be live streamed worldwide on the European Cricket Network and on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent.
Following the great success of the two European Cricket Series Rome events in 2020, we started our 2021 "Italian Job" with the FanCode ECS Italy, Rome.
Blessed by beautiful Bologna last week, we venture to wonderful Venice, Milan and Brescia for five consecutive weeks of European Cricket Series events in Italy.
In Venice, Venezia are the favourites playing on their own turf and qualified for the quarter finals of both the Italian T20 Championship and Coppa Italia in 2020, results which offer optimism for the long-term future. Venezia also impressed on ECS debut in November, with five wins in six games, topping the group ahead of eventual winners Bergamo United, before a semi-final exit.
Padova also featured in November in Rome, bagging two wins in six games but came a cropper in a couple of close games. Interestingly, Padova came third in a tough group boasting Royal Parma and Royal Roma both of whom have featured strongly in recent FanCode ECS Italy events. So Padova definitely possesses a strong T10 pedigree coming into 2021.
Three-time Italian champions, Trentino Aquila, are the most celebrated of the five clubs on display, but are making their ECS debut.
Royal Cricket Padova are also making their ECS debut and can call on limited experience in competitive cricket, but will be especially motivated in the derby matches against Padova CC.
Lonigo, a town near Vicenza, is a new team on the Italian scene, only making its competitive debut last year.
