Founded in 1997 in Alicante, Intellectuals will be looking to improve on a disappointing showing Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante when the Intellectuals were left scratching their heads after going winless in six games.

Second division champions in the ECCL (East Coast and Central League) 40 overs competition in 2019, Intellectuals again face an uphill task but with the pressure off and expectations low, could always spring a surprise against more-fancied opposition.

Watch out for star bat Nadeem Muhammad who scored 167 runs in four innings without being dismissed last season.

The history of the club is also worth a mention. Intellectuals CC first established itself on 21 September 1997 with a match against Marks and Clerk, a law firm from UK. At the time, the Intellectuals were known by the acronym of the organisation the majority of the players worked for, i.e. the OHIM (Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market). The office dealt with intellectual property, hence the team name.

Over the years the Intellectuals have played matches against teams from up and down the Mediterranean coast, Madrid, the occasional touring team, while making annual tours abroad itself. The club is fully affiliated to Cricket España and participates in the Cricket España ECCL (East Coast and Central League). In April 2010, after many years of trying, Intellectuals CC acquired its own home ground at the Bonalba Golf and Spa Resort in Alicante and the club has now made it a permanent venue.
