All three Spanish teams were part of history, taking part in the first-ever European Cricket Series event, namely the Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante in  in March 2020.

In fact, Madrid United made history by winning our opening ECS event namely the Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante in March 2020.

Madrid United also prevailed in the very-first Golden Ball Finish!

Hosts Sporting Alfas will fancy their chances on home soil and go into the tournament as strong favourites, befitting their status as one of the most successful clubs in the country. Formed in 1996, Sporting Alfas appeared invincible in the very-first Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante in March 2020 with ex-Surrey batter Eddie Ballard making history by blasting the first-ever ECS century (off 31 balls) against the dumbfounded Intellectuals. Sporting Alfas simply dominated all their group games in that inaugural Dream11 ECS, but came unstuck in a massive semi-final shock against Pinatar Pirates.

With his side undefeated in competitive cricket this season, Sporting Alfas captain Phill Pennick said: "We are very confident of putting up a good showing, but after last time we will be taking nothing for granted."

Founded in 1997 in Alicante, Intellectuals will be looking to improve on a disappointing showing Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante when the Intellectuals were left scratching their heads after going winless in six games.

Second division champions in the ECCL (East Coast and Central League) 40 overs competition in 2019, Intellectuals again face an uphill task but with the pressure off and expectations low, could always spring a surprise against more-fancied opposition.

Watch out for star bat Nadeem Muhammad who scored 167 runs in four innings without being dismissed last season.
