Minhaj were hotly fancied to impress at their ECS debut in November but flattered to deceive with just two wins in eight games.
But Minhaj, the oldest club in Catalunya, possess some genuine T10 pedigree, having qualified as Spain’s representatives for ECL20. Unfortunately, Minhaj were unable to take their place at ECL20 after the postponement due to the Corona pandemic. However, Minhaj are still in line to qualify for ECL21 if they come through a play-off against La Manga CC in the Spring.
With that prospect in mind, Minhaj have been able to attract talents like Awais Ahmed and Asjad Butt to the club. Both these quality players give Minhaj the advantage in Group C, along with the all-round talents of record run scorer Mohammad Riaz.
KEY PLAYERS
Awais Ahmed is a classy Spain international wicket keeper batsman and ended leading run scorer at the first-staging of the European Cricket Series Barcelona for Falco with 329 runs - the only batsman to pass the 300 run milestone, earning him ECN Player of the Tournament honours. Awais amazed with series of tremendous batting displays at the top of the order as Falco finished runners-up. Now plying his trade for Minhaj with the prospect of playing at ECL21, Awais immediately caught the eye with a match-winning knock for his new team.
Jafar Iqbal
A powerful batsman who impressed at ECS Barcelona last time around, bagging a pair of man of the match awards with some destructive hitting.
Asjad Butt
Played a brilliant innings of 72 off 28 balls with seven sixes against Minhaj while playing for Bangladesh Kings in November. Asjad is a real asset for Minhaj in the FanCode ECS Spain Barcelona and immediately caught the eye with a match-winning innings of 84 off 32 balls against his former team.
