Our final event of another action-packed year, FanCode ECS Malta Encore provided an opportunity for ten leading Maltese teams to showcase their skills on the magnificent island of Malta, contesting 47 games over 12 days. Every game was live streamed worldwide on the European Cricket Network and on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent.
In many ways, the final of the ECS FanCode Malta Encore was a repeat of the European Cricket Series Malta 2020 final. The very same two teams contested the finals then on the exact same date with the result proving to be similar too!
Marsa, who finished third in the group stages with four wins and three losses, took on Atlas UTC Knights in the final on Saturday and it proved to be a spectacle. Batting first, AUK made 98/7 in the allotted 10 overs. Marsa got off to a brilliant start thanks to Fanyan Mughal, third highest run scorer in the season, and Zeeshan Khan, their two openers.
Zeeshan made an unbeaten half-century and saw MAR through to a win in 7.3 overs and deservedly won the Man of the Match award.
Earlier in the day, MAR had just made it to the finals on the back of a golden ball win against American University of Malta in a thrilling semi-final.
