In Gozo’s ECS debut and opening match of their FanCode ECS Malta campaign, a humiliating loss ensued at the hands of eventual champions Super Kings. Not only did the GOZ bowlers leak too many runs which allowed SKI to smash a new record score of 200 in just 10 overs, the Gozo batsmen were no match for the opposition bowling attack either.
GOZ were cleaned up for only six runs, creating several unwanted ECS records.
Lowest Powerplay Score
Gozo’s batsmen managed to score just five runs inside the first three overs. GOZ ended up recording the lowest Powerplay score in ECS history, without a single boundary in their six overs.
Most Wickets lost in Powerplay
The side also lost eight wickets within the first three overs, crumbling in the face of some brilliant bowling. No other side in ECS has lost as many wickets in the Powerplay.
Most Ducks in an Innings
Eight Gozo cricketers were dismissed without troubling the scorers - the most ducks in a single ECS innings.
