Tournament Review - FanCode ECS Malta

Super Kings scripted a fantastic success in FanCode ECS Malta with victory over Overseas in the Final last weekend.

We look at some key stats and figures from an enthralling tournament on the beautiful island of Malta.

Team scores

As the graphic shows, the two teams that consistently posted big scores in both innings, SKI and OVR, went on to reach the Final.

Overall, some matches saw the 200-run barrier breached, while quite a few others saw middling totals, and closely fought games.

Boundary hitting

Super Kings were easily the best boundary hitters in the tournament and was a key feature of SKI's run to the title. SKI hit more sixes than any other team and kept their four count quite high too.

Powerplay batting

Super Kings made the highest score in the powerplay - 58. MAR were the only other team to touch the 50-run mark in the powerplay overs. AUM and RST never made 30 runs in the powerplay in any match in the tournament.

The best team won

There's little doubt that the best team won the tournament. SKI enjoyed an unbeaten run through the tournament and rightfully finished winners. There was no distinct advantage of batting first or second in the tournament. In 48 games, stats show that the team batting first won 25 matches while the ones chasing won 23, fairly par numbers.

Mode of dismissals

Caught out was still the dominant mode of dismissal, but 27.9% of the dismissals were also bowled.
