FanCode ECS Malta provides an opportunity for ten leading Maltese teams to showcase their skills on the magnificent island of Malta, contesting 48 games over 12 days. Every game will be live streamed worldwide on the European Cricket Network and on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent.
When the top two teams in Group A clashed, it was Atlas UTC Knights’ Basil George who single-handedly changed the match in AUK’s favour. Basil bagged a four-wicket haul and then added 11 to help AUK inflict a first defeat of the competition on reigning champions Marsa.
Basil George yet again won the Man of the Match, this time for a handsome contribution with the bat. Chasing Marsa’s total of 88, George smashed an unbeaten 30-ball 60 for AUK, taking his side to victory with nine wickets in hand and nine balls to spare.
Ryan Bastiansz led the charge for SOC in the first match with his 13-ball 30. Saneesh Kumar wasn’t too far behind as he slammed an unbeaten 30-ball 49 for AUM. However, SOC came out on top thanks to strong lower order performances and managed to reach the target in the final over.
Saneesh Kumar fired yet again, this time in a Man of the Match showing as AUM beat SOC in the final match of the day. This time, he remained not out on 46 and helped AUM make a total of 84. AUM bowlers, led by Kalki Kumar’s economical spell, were able to defend the target and denied SOC a second consecutive win.
