Champions! Kummerfelder Sportverein reign supreme at FanCode ECS Germany Kiel

Kummerfelder Sportverein crushed the hopes of MTV Stallions of winning a maiden ECS trophy by beating them comprehensively in the Final. The defending champions, who barely scraped past First Contact in the quarter-final, enjoyed a monumental day as they clinched their third ECN title, to go with the two tournaments on German soil last summer, namely the Dream11 European Cricket Series Kummerfeld and ECN Hannover Hitout in 2020 and now the FanCode ECS Germany Kiel.

Rajan Sharma, who scored a golden duck on debut in the quarter-final yesterday, was the star performer for KSV in both games today. He picked up 3-18 in the first semi-final and backed it up with an unbeaten 60 off 30 balls in the Final to win back-to-back man-of-the-match awards.

PSV Hann-Munden picked up bronze medal honours beating SC Europa in an eight-over hitout. Playing for the first time this season, Hirenbhai Patel looked good with the bat in both games on Saturday scoring 81 runs at a strike rate of 180. The right-handed opener was named man of the match in the Bronze Final.

Earlier in the day, Kummerfelder Sportverein beat SC Europa for the third time this season. Incidentally, KSV won all three games chasing - winning by 10 wickets on the previous two occasions.

MTV Stallions continue to have the wood over PSV Hann-Munden as they emerged victorious in a thrilling last-over finish in the second semi-final. The Stallions have now beaten PSV in four of their five meetings in ECN competitions with another game abandoned.

There were quite a few notable performers this series, but it was PSV's Safi Awalkhan who was adjudged Man of the Series. The all-rounder finished as the leading wicket taker in the tournament picking up 16 wickets and mustering 77 runs at a healthy strike rate of 192.5.
