Indo-Bulgarian CC’s impressive winning streak finally came to an end on Friday. Needing 28 runs off the last two overs, Mohammad Fayaz and Hristo Ivanov dealt with the pressure well and Ivanov’s last-ball boundary sealed a fantastic win for Barbarians to seal qualification for the knockout stages.
INB made sure to not repeat mistakes from the last match and this time posted an extremely formidable target thanks to some fantastic batting from Bulgarian internationals Prakash Mishra and Hristo Lakov. It proved to be enough for the bowlers to defend easily this time around.
We saw yet another successful run-chase in the third match of the day. PLE’s Faizan Rehman ran riot through the opposition batting unit with his four-wicket haul, but the PLO batsmen reached the target comfortably with an over to spare.
In the final group stage game, an excellent all-round performance from Sulaiman Ali, who picked up 2/5 in his only over before smashing a 32-ball 43, helped PLO win with seven balls to spare in the run-chase.
