European Cricket Series Malta provides an opportunity for six Maltese teams to showcase their skills on the magnificent island of Malta. American University of Malta, Knight Kings CC, Marsa CC, Msida Warriors CC, Overseas CC and Southern Crusaders CC will contest 33 exciting T10 games over nine days. Every game will be live streamed on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent, and for rest of the world on Sports Flick, a global OTT platform, that allows you to watch live sport on demand.
With four successive wins after starting with six straight defeats, Overseas CC are on the brink of snatching a semi-final spot at the European Cricket Series Malta.
After rising from the foot of the table yesterday with two wins over American University of Malta, Overseas twice overcame Msida Warriors to rise to third in the standings ahead of the final group games.
Despite a brisk 42 from Justin George, Warriors could only muster 74 with two wickets each for Charl Kleinepunte and Andy Naudi. Naudi top scored with an unbeaten 37 as Overseas easily chased down the target with 26 balls remaining.
In their next meeting, Overseas racked up 89 with Naudi again the man with the bat with 37. In reply, the Warriors looked on course, but Jurg Hirschi turned the tide by taking two wickets in the sixth and last available over before the rain arrived. After the calculations, Overseas were narrowly in front on DLS by the small margin of eight runs.
In the day’s other action, Southern Crusaders cemented second spot in the standings with two exciting victories, both times chasing over Marsa.
Marsa’s Nowell Khosla tonked 55 on their way to 103, but Gopal Thakur led the way with 29 as the Crusaders got home with six balls to spare.
In a rain reduced five over bash, Marsa amassed a challenging 77 with Zeeshan Khan making 33. Ryan Ricky Bastiansz took control of the chase with 45 off 19 as the Crusaders sneaked home with a ball to spare.
After tasting nothing but defeat on Wednesday, both Msida Warriors and Marsa need a victory from their final two group games on Thursday to go past Overseas in the standings.
