REPORT: Knights and Southern Crusaders stay unbeaten at European Cricket Series Malta

Knights and Southern Crusaders both kept their unbeaten records intact on a clement Thursday at the European Cricket Series Malta.

Knights CC twice got the better of Overseas CC by the same margin of 12 runs. Batting first, Knights amassed 107 with Samuel Mangat Stanislaus batting through for 37 off 30 balls. In reply, Overseas fell behind the required rate early and only Clyde Palmer (27) and Daniel Kniverton (22*) made the margin of defeat respectable.

Next up, Knights knocked up 20 runs less, with Samuel Mangat again top scoring with 33 (off 15) before an unfortunate run out. Chasing 88 to win, Overseas only managed to hit one six in their innings with Daniel Kniverton top scoring with 22. Asif Sha set the standard with the ball for Knights, bowling two parsimonious overs for seven runs.

Southern Crusaders maintained their 100 percent record with two entertaining wins over the American University of Malta. Zoheb Malek blasted 60 off 30 balls to fire the University side to a challenging 111. In reply, Southern Crusaders timed the chase to perfection with three balls remaining as Gaurav Maithani (34*), skipper Michael Goonetilleke (22) and Zeeshan Yousaf (34) all made useful contributions.

Again batting first in their next encounter, American University of Malta posted 77 with Abhishek Prajapati and Zoheb Malek both scoring 26. Gopal Thakur top scored with an unbeaten 20 as Southern Crusaders made heavy weather of the chase, before scrambling a bye off the final ball of the innings for their fourth straight win.
