PREVIEW: MATCH 11 – Berlin Eagles v BSV Britannia – European Cricket Series Dresden

Tune in to the live action Wednesday from 9am CEST * 8am UK * 7am GMT * 12:30pm IST from the Ostrapark ground in Dresden.

Team Preview for Berlin Eagles

The Eagles are yet to take flight in Dresden, unfortunately going winless in their six matches to this point. The Eagles can still feature at the end of the week but need a win or two on Wednesday while having other results fall their way if they are going to sneak into the four. Both of their remaining two preliminary matches are against BSV Britannia.

Captain: Khaliq Zaman

Main Wicketkeeper: Chamila Bandara

Key Players:

Chamila Bandara has had his hands full behind the stumps this week. I’m sure he’d like to score a few more runs for his team in their final two preliminary matches.

Bashar Khan has been reliable with the ball for the Eagles in their disappointing campaign so far. They will need a big effort from him if they are to extract something from their games against BSV Britannia.

Younis Ahmadzai struggled with a couple of issues which affected his control with the ball on Tuesday, but he seems to have sorted them out and he will hope to show his all-round talents once again.

Naser Hamed has five wickets for the week and has also applied himself well. He will hope to restrict the Britannia batting lineup to a chaseable score.

Team Preview for BSV Britannia

BSV Britannia open their tournament on Day 3 of action and have some catching up to do! In fact, they will feature in eight of the final ten preliminary matches. This schedule could be a blessing or a curse for the team. Playing so many matches in two days is could build confidence and momentum, or it could just fatigue the playing group. One thing is for sure, they will be looking to open their account in their first match against the Eagles.

Captain: Rohit Singh

Main Wicketkeeper: Vijay Lakshmanan

Key Players:

Waqas Virk will open the batting and could also open the bowling. In addition, he is a gun fielder, so he presents a genuine triple threat to the opposition.

Rohit Singh will captain the side and is likely to bat in the top four as well as take the new ball for Britannia. He's an all-round cricketer and he will certainly be looking to lead his team to victory in their first ECS appearance.

Mohit Negi could open the batting with his skipper. He has been in solid domestic form with willow in hand and can also provide another option behind the stumps for BSV Britannia.

Vijay Lakshmanan is a very experienced, class player. He will probably bat in his usual number three position, while sharing the keeping duties with Negi over the next couple of days as the situation dictates. With such a packed schedule, it would make sense to share the load.

Mr Maximo’s tip: BSV BRITANNIA

The Berlin Eagles have had a torrid time of it this week. They face BSV Britannia in both of their final two matches, the first and third matches of Wednesday. It could be said that the experience of the format could give them a bit of a boost compared to BSV Britannia who are experiencing their first ECS matches, however I think BSV Britannia have the edge and so predict them to defeat the Berlin Eagles.
