Alvalade, Amigos Ansiao, Oeiras, Malo Vilamoura, Rossio and Royal Lisbon featured over five days in 20 explosive T10 matches from the magnificent Cartaxo Cricket Ground (CCG) in Portugal. Every game was live streamed worldwide on the European Cricket Network and on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent.
Malo Vilamoura made all the right moves to win the European Cricket Series Cartaxo on a nerve-wracking day in Portugal.
After four wins from five games in the group stages, Malo Vilamoura survived a fright against Rossio in the semi-final when, with two needed off the last ball, overthrows sealed their passage into the showcase final.
In the second-semi another last over finish ensued as Oeiras fell five runs short against Alvalade, despite 79 off 37 balls from Man of the Tournament Conrad Greenshields.
Rossio did gain some consolation for their agonising semi-final defeat by beating Oeiras in the Bronze Final for 3rd place.
But after their narrow escape in the semi-final, it proved plain sailing for Malo Vilamoura with the trophy on the line. Losing wickets at regular intervals, no Alvalade batsman reached double figures, subsiding to 45 all out with five balls remaining of their innings. In reply, Malo Vilamoura motored along to the victory target for no loss inside six overs.
European Cricket Series now moves onto Germany for the European Cricket Series Frankfurt.
