European Cricket Series Barcelona provided an opportunity for nine Catalonian teams to showcase their skills at the Montjuic Cricket Ground (MCG) adjacent to the 1992 Olympic baseball venue. Badalona Shaheen CC, Bangladesh Kings CC, Catalunya CC, Catalunya Tigers CC, Falco CC, Fateh CC, Minhaj CC, Pak I Care and Raval Sporting CC contested 40 exciting T10 games over two weeks. Every game was live streamed on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent, and for rest of the world on Sports Flick, a global OTT platform, that allows you to watch live sport on demand.
Following 40 games of frenzied T10 action, Pak I Care proved worthy winners of the European Cricket Series Barcelona.
In a very one-sided final, Pak I Care proved too strong for Catalunya CC. After restricting Catalunya to a paltry 85, Pak I Care cruised home with 27 balls remaining with player of the tournament Muhammad Ihsan mullering another half century. Ihsan made batting look easy, ended as the tournament’s leading run scorer on 364 runs, hitting the small matter of 41 sixes over the course of the fortnight T10 frenzy.
Pak I Care did survive a scare in their semi-final against a gallant Badalona Shaheen side that were the only team to beat them in the group stages. Muhammad Kamran's magnificent unbeaten 74 brought Pak I Care to an imposing total of 130, but brutal Badalona batsman Babar Khan brought his side to the brink of victory with an unbeaten 71 off 27 balls. Amid great tension, Badalona Shaheen fell an agonising two runs short of the target.
Badalona Shaheen did gain some consolation by winning the Bronze Final against Catalunya Tigers, and will be looking to go one better at the Barcelona Bash starting on Saturday.
