The European Cricket Network live broadcasts the 2020 European Cricket Series Barcelona encounter between Raval Sporting and Catalunya Tigers.

PREVIEW: MATCH 17 – Raval Sporting v Catalunya Tigers – European Cricket Series Barcelona November

Tune in to the live action Friday from 8:30am CET * 7:30am UK/GMT * 1pm IST from the Montjuïc ground in Barcelona, Spain.

Team Preview for Raval Sporting

Raval Sporting CC played in last month’s Barcelona series where they finished in fourth place in Group B, with four wins of their seven matches. They had some very promising results and will be relishing the chance to get another opportunity to play at the Montjuïc ground.

Captain: Ishan Patel

Main Wicketkeeper: Kishitij Patel

Key Players:

Ishan Patel was far and away Raval's standout performer last month, leading their run-scoring with 189 and also taking ten wickets, the equal best for his team. He will open the batting and will follow his attacking instincts as well as providing some skilful off spin for Raval Sporting.

Manish Manwani is a very versatile player who will likely bat number four. In addition to being a solid bat, he contributed nine wickets to the cause in the previous series. The ECS has provided invaluable experience to the Under 19 team captain – it’s hard to believe he is still a month away from his 17th birthday!

Gaurang Mahyavanshi is Raval Sporting’s joint leading wicket-taker in T20 this season and hasn't disappointed in the ECS either. His left arm spinners have been very effective, picking up 10 wickets including a best of 3 for 3! Hbowle economically too – only going for 8.7 an over and you don’t see him bowling too many bad balls.

Team Preview for Catalunya Tigers

Like Raval Sporting, the Tigers finished fourth in their group in the October ECS Barcelona with an identical 4-3 record. They would have been disappointed to miss out on the finals last time around so will be desperate to make it to the business end of this series.

Captain: Ghulam Sarwar

Main Wicketkeeper: Sufian Ansar

Key Players:

Ghulam Sarwar might be 43 years of age but that didn't stop him leading the wicket-taking for the Tigers in their campaign last month. He picked up ten of them at an average of only 6.4 and an economy of 7.5 runs per over. He has a happy knack of tricking batsmen with clever changes in pace and flight so I think he could be a bit weapon again for the Tigers in this series.

Davinder Singh Kaur will open the batting. He led the run-scoring for the Catalunya Tigers in the October Series and will look to set his team up for a defendable score.

Ishtiaq Nazir has been acquired from Pakcelona where he was the leading run-scorer for that side in the previous ECS Barcelona, scoring 160 runs in seven matches including a half-century.

It goes without saying that these teams are evenly matched. The finished in identical positions in their groups in the October edition of the European Cricket Series Barcelona and even ended up with the same win-loss records! To make it even more spooky, they are meeting on Friday the 13th so we might see something strange but I feel like the Tigers have added some useful players to the squad that might just give them the edge.

Ishan Patel is a big threat with bat and ball for Raval Sporting, but if the Catalunya Tigers can overcome his influence, I think they can win the opening match of Friday. Four matches round out the first week in Barcelona but stay tuned for the exciting conclusion in week two on the other side of the weekend!
