The European Cricket Network live broadcasts the 2020 European Cricket Series Barcelona encounter between Falco and Badalona Shaheen.

PREVIEW: MATCH 1 – Falco v Badalona Shaheen – European Cricket Series Barcelona November

Tune in to the live action Monday from 8:30pm CET * 7:30pm UK/GMT * 1pm IST from the Montjuïc ground in Barcelona, Spain.

Team Preview for Falco

Falco CC made it all the way to the final in the previous European Cricket Series Barcelona last month, finishing as runners-up in the 16 team tournament. They won 6 and only lost 3 off their matches, but two of those losses came at the hands of the eventual champions Catalunya CC who Falco fell 11 runs short of in the tournament decider.

Captain: Kamran Raja

Main Wicketkeeper: Awais Ahmed

Key Players:

Awais Ahmed will open the batting. The Spanish national team wicketkeeper-batsman was the leading run scorer in the previous ECS Barcelona, scorin 329 runs at a strike rate of in excess of two runs per ball. He was also the tournament's leading six hitter with a grand total of 27 maximos in the 9 games he played. Watch out for more of the same!

Kamran Raja will lead the side and is a key component for Falco. The skipped averaged over 50 with the bat last month and also had an impact with the ball, snaring nine wickets including a best bowling of 4 for 14.

Shahbaz Ahmed was Falco’s leading wicket-taker in October, with 12 wickets at a very reasonable economy rate of 8.31. He is a dangerous customer who never seems to go for too many runs.

Team Preview for Badalona Shaheen

Badalona Shaheen CC have been impressive in the T20 format but were a little disappointing in T10s leading into their first European Cricket Series last month. They did show improvement, winning four out of their seven matches to finish third in Group A but narrowly missed out on a finals place. They would love to get a taste of Finals Friday action this time around but face a stern test against Falco in the tournament opener.

Captain: Dilawar Khan

Main Wicketkeeper: Babar Khan

Key Players:

Babar Khan is a very good young player who is not afraid to follow his attacking instincts. At only 21 years of age, he led his team in run-scoring last month and is a weapon at the top of the order. He would love to improve on his top score of 56 in European Cricket Series cricket.

Kuldeep Lal is a key inclusion for Badalona Shaheen, having been signed for this tournament after representing Gracia CC last month, as well as playing for Pinatar Pirates in the inaugural European Cricket Series back in March, where he led the run-scoring. He wasn’t as impressive in October, that is until he blasted 110 off only 33 balls in a record team total of 198 against Joves Units in Match 53. If he gets going, Badalona Shaheen will be contenders, not only in this match but for the trophy!

Hamza Saleem has international experience for Spain and I like him as a cricketer. He can contribute with bat and ball and if Badalona Shaheen are to make the step up into a final four team, he will play a key role.

Mr Maximo’s tip: FALCO

This is the first match of FORTY games in the November edition of the European Cricket Series Barcelona, which will be played over ten match days and include nine teams. The games will be played once again in the stadium which hosted baseball at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

The opening match promises to be a very good contest, with strong players on both sides. I favour Falco on the basis of current form, but who is to say which team will end up on top in the first match of four in Barcelona.
