Team Preview for Fateh
Fateh CC started their campaign in dramatic circumstances on Monday evening with a Golden Ball victory against Bengali CC. They couldn’t keep up the momentum on Wednesday, conceding 120 to Pakcelona CC and only managing 89 in response. Playing back-to-back matches, Friday will prove critical for Fateh’s finals prospects.
Captain: Manjinder Singh-Lovely
Main Wicketkeeper: Manish Kumar-Tokhi
Manjinder Singh-Lovely will bat in the top order and can open the bowling. He was Fateh’s best bowler in their first game, taking 2 for 19 with the new ball before showing what he can do with the bat on Wednesday, scoring 24 opening the batting.
Rajiv Singh played a critical role in the chase against Bengali CC, whacking 31 off only 13 balls at number six in a game which was ultimately forced into golden ball overtime. I see him being promoted higher in the batting order because his game is well-suited to the T10 format.
Kuldeep Singh was the Golden Ball Hero on Monday. He scored 11 off only 3 balls faced in regulation time before scrambling a two off the Golden Ball to win the game for Fateh. He would love to repeat some of those heroics on a tremendously important day for Fateh on Friday.
Team Preview for Kings
Bangladesh Kings CC did not play Monday but played their first two games consecutively on Wednesday. They certainly had an immediate impact on the competition with two wins against championship contenders, beating United Girona off the second last ball in Match 9 before accounting for the Catalunya Tigers, defeating them by 15 runs in the very next match to shoot to first in Group A. A win in their only match Friday will consolidate their place at the top of the ladder.
Captain: Moshiur Rahman
Main Wicketkeeper: Jubed Miah
Kamrul Islam Foysol was clutch against United Girona, striking three impressive maximos in his unbeaten 29 to help them reach the target. He has power and has shown he can do it when it counts. He bowled incredibly well in their next match against the Catalunya Tigers, taking an amazing 3 for 8 off his two overs to break the back of the Tigers' innings in a match where the Kings prevailed by a margin of 15 runs.
Jubed Miah top scored for the Bangladeshis against United, scoring 36 off 27 balls opening the batting to set up the chase. He batted down in the middle order in the next match. He will also have the responsibilities behind the stumps.
Sofiqul Islam has shown he can hit the ball a long way and has kept things very tight with the ball. He conceded only nine runs off his two overs in the last match.
Mr Maximo’s tip: KINGS
Bangladesh Kings stamped their authority on Group A with emphatic back-to-back victories on Wednesday. Fateh showed they can perform under pressure after the dramatic tie and Golden Ball triumph on Monday, before stumbling to Pakcelona in their next outing. Anybody watching this series would know there are no easy matches to call, and we’ve seen so many close contests this week. I expect this to be no exception, with the Kings coming out on top. Join us on the European Cricket Network as the first week of action comes to a close with four more exciting matches on Friday, before we return on Monday with more action-packed drama from the European Cricket Series Barcelona!
