ECN's first-ever tour to Jersey came to a spectacular end, delivering unforgettable moments and setting new records in both the men’s and women’s Liberation Series.
In the ECS Jersey Liberation Series, it was Central Commanders who lifted the trophy in one of the greatest finals in ECN history. Chasing a daunting 208 set by Southern Spitfires, the Commanders pulled off the highest-ever successful chase on ECN, finishing the job with just one ball to spare.
The Spitfires looked set for glory after Zak Tribe’s brilliant century powered them to a massive total. With no side ever chasing 200+ before, the odds were stacked against the Commanders — especially after losing a wicket in the first over. But Julius Sumerauer and Scott Van Breda, both centurions earlier in the tournament, steadied the innings with an 80-run stand.
The game changed dramatically when skipper Dom Blampied took charge, launching an astonishing assault with an unbeaten 92 off just 24 balls, including 10 sixes and 6 fours. It was a breathtaking finish to a rollercoaster game that saw a record-breaking 415 runs, the highest combined total in ECN history.
Sumerauer’s consistency throughout the tournament earned him the MVP award, finishing with 596 runs to top the charts.
In the ECS-W Jersey Liberation Series, Western Towers Women emerged as champions after finishing at the top of the table with 4 wins in 6 matches. But the tournament’s standout performer was undoubtedly Lara Maritz of MCC Women, who was named MVP for scoring 269 runs, taking 6 wickets, and hitting the only century of the women’s event.

From thrilling chases to standout individual brilliance, Jersey’s Liberation Series delivered everything ECN fans could hope for — a fitting tribute to a landmark occasion in the island’s history.
