The European Cricket Network wrapped up its first-ever tour to Hornchurch, England with two electrifying ECS events – one for men and one for women – marking a major step in expanding the reach of the game in the UK.
The men’s event culminated in a dominant final performance from Sharks Cricket Academy, who claimed the ECS England, Hornchurch title with a clinical win over Old Brentwoods. Batting first, the Sharks posted a towering 180 runs in just 10 overs, thanks to some fearless hitting throughout the innings. In response, Old Brentwoods struggled to build momentum and lost wickets at crucial stages, eventually finishing on 144, falling 36 runs short.
Star performer George Hankins of Hornchurch, the hometown heroes and ECL24 champions, was named MVP of the tournament. He lit up the competition with the bat, ending the tournament as the leading run scorer with 634 runs, showcasing his consistency and class across games.
In the women’s event, it was Gunnersbury who emerged victorious after finishing top of the table in a three-team round-robin series. Their all-round performance across the competition earned them the title in a tightly contested tournament.

Sunette Viljoen-Louw was the standout performer in the women’s competition, earning the MVP award after a brilliant tournament with the bat, finishing as the top run scorer with 322 runs.
With its scenic backdrop and vibrant cricketing culture, Hornchurch proved to be the perfect new addition to ECN’s growing circuit. The tournament delivered top-tier action, high-scoring thrillers, and inspiring performances – setting the stage for more cricketing excellence in the future.
