ECN Czech Super Series is a new competition encompassing 40 high-octane T10 matches, coming to an exciting climax this weekend. Four group winners, Bohemian CC, Brno Rangers, Prague Spartans Vanguards and Prague Barbarians Vandals meet at the ECN Czech Super Series Championship weekend in the Czech capital Prague.

Bohemian Rhapsody – Buoyant Bohemian CC 2020 ECN Czech Super Series Champions!

Buoyant Bohemian CC brilliant beat Prague Barbarians Vandals to become 2020 ECN Czech Super Series Champions.

Prague Barbarians Vandals’ potent top order crucially failed in the final in the face of some tremendous bowling from Bohemian CC. Opener Sabawoon Davizi again top scored, but this time with only 13, as opposed to the 73 and 47 in his two previous match-winning knocks to launch his side into the final.

The Vandals bats could not do any real damage against the nagging Bohemian line up. Abul Farhad was the pick with 3-16, and 12 of those runs were 3 successive boundaries flying off thick edges to the boundary.

In reply, the Bohemian captain Javed Iqbal fiddled with the batting order and might have been ruing that decision after losing two wickets in the opening Honey Gori over. But Zahid Mahmood remained at the crease and took Bohemian to victory with 14 balls to spare with a calm and composed 42 off 22 balls.

Congratulations – Bohemian CC - 2020 ECN Czech Super Series Champions!

Earlier in the day, coming second best in two dramatic last ball finishes on the opening day, including a defeat to Bohemian, Prague Barbarians Vandals convincingly prevailed twice against previously unbeaten Prague Spartans Vanguards to reach the final.

In the Eliminator, with a place in the final against Bohemian CC on the line, the Vandals effortlessly chased down the target of 78 set by the Vanguards with 10 balls to spare. Opening bat Sabawoon Davizi was again the main man with 47 off 28 as the Vandals go into the final with real momentum.

In their first meeting on Sunday morning, Davizi capitalized on being dropped twice to pummel 73 off 28 balls as the Vandals motored to a menacing 123. In reply, previously unbeaten Prague Spartans Vanguards lost key batsman Kranthi Venkataswamy early and fell behind the asking rate from the off.

A tighter Vandals bowling display had everything under control as the Vanguards run rate took a massive dent in their final group game, putting top spot in the standings under serious jeopardy.

This destructive win for the Vandals first up, meant Brno Rangers and Bohemian CC could both top the group with success in the final round robin match. In a do or die match, the losers would exit the competition.

With the pressure palpable, Bohemian posted a middle of the road 82, pegged back by Sandeep Tiwari’s 3-14 for the Rangers. However, Bohemian were brutal with the ball and defended the total with their lives. Ravindra Singh Bist conceded only six in his two overs and again the finish came down to the last over. Having held the innings together, needing 16 to win from the final over, opener Dylan Steyn was starved of the strike and the Rangers fell 8 runs short.

All 40 matches of the ECN Czech Super Series were streamed worldwide via the European Cricket Network www.ecn.cricket and in India on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent.
