REPORT: 3rd Place Playoff – Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante

Levante lifted Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante bronze medal honours by winning the 3rd place playoff comprehensively beating a demoralised Sporting Alfas outfit by eight wickets.

In a game no-one seemingly wanted to play in, especially after their horror show against Pinatar Pirates in the semi, Sporting Alfas once again got off to a nightmare start, losing key man Eddie Ballard in the first over and Jack Perman shortly after.

But veteran opener Faran Afzal and Spain captain Christian Munoz-Mills did repair some of the damage. Having departed for a golden duck in a nightmare morning, Afzal amassed a Rapido 39 off 16 balls, while Munoz-Mills milked the bowling for 22 off 14. Imtiaz Ullah was the pick of the Levante bowlers with three prize scalps.

That said, the Sporting Alfas total of 103 did look a little short of par, especially when Furqan Zameer fired 36 off 22 to put Levante in control. Sharad Brahmbhatt hit a classy 32 off 18 and dangerman Tariq Afridi finished the deal with a brutal 25 off only 6 balls, as he remained in the race to win Dream11 European Cricket Series Alicante MVP honours.
