REPORT: Record double century from Attah Ullah and big wins for Punjab Lions and Sri Lankans at Week 2 – 2020 CCA BAO Financial T20 Cup – Cyprus

Attah Ullah electrified a massive global internet audience of over 100,000 cricket lovers and viewers on the European Cricket Network by slamming a record double century in Cyprus.

On a blustery, sweltering hot day in Limassol, in mild understatement, Attah Ullah, better known in Cyprus cricketing circles as Rehman, made the Limassol Gladiators massively regret their decision to bowl first after winning the toss.

Riyaan’s swashbuckling left-handed opener, scythed his way to a record individual score of 251 not out in Cyprus. In all, Rehman mullered 22 sixes and 24 fours, taking his side to a mammoth total of 311 off 20 overs.

Attah on the Attack

In reply, the Gladiators closed on 126-6 which might have been a decent total on many other days, but because of the rampant Rehman, it meant a 185 run defeat.

In the other action, Punjab Lions racked a second straight resounding victory of their 2020 CCA #BAOFinancial T20 Cup campaign. Having skittled Nicosia Tigers last week for a paltry 85 in their opening game, Punjab Lions again did the job with the ball. Tejwinder Singh was the standout bowler with 5-20 as Amdocs were dismissed for 102. In reply, the Lions had little trouble in knocking off the target and strolled to victory inside 12 overs on the back of Harwinder Singh’s handy 46 off 27 balls.

Next up Sri Lankans CC smashed their way to 192 with big-hitting Prasad Suranga the main plunderer with a blistering knock of 85 off 34 balls, launching 10 boundaries and 6 sixes. Qasim Anwar bowled like a demon for the Nicosia Tigers with 5-15, but enjoyed little support from the other bowlers. After losing early wickets, defending champions Nicosia Tigers never threatened the target and have serious work to do if they are to defend their title.
