RECORD SCORE! Attah Ullah hammers record double century in Cyprus T20 match on European Cricket Network

On a blustery, sweltering hot day in Limassol, Attah Ullah, better known in Cyprus cricketing circles as Rehman, made the Limassol Gladiators regret their decision to field first after winning the toss.

Riyaan’s swashbuckling left-handed opener, scythed his way to a record individual score of 251 not out in Cyprus. In all, Rehman mullered 22 sixes and 24 fours, taking his side to a mammoth total of 311 off 20 overs.

Rehman savaged the Gladiators bowling from the start, motoring to his fifty off only 16 balls before accelerating to a rapid century 14 balls later.

“I am thankful to my batting partner Jeevan Lasmal for his encouragement throughout the innings. He kept giving me the strike,” Rehman said. The opening pair put on 257 for the first wicket before Lasmal was dismissed for 36 in the 17th over.

Rehman reached his 150 milestone off 48 balls, before progressing serenely to a double century from 64 balls, closing unbeaten on 251, facing 80 off the possible 120 legal deliveries.

Born in Pakistan in 1992, Rehman learned his cricket in Nangarhar in Afghanistan, before moving to Cyprus in 2012. He has played for Nicosia Thunders and Mustangs in the past, and joined Riyaan last season. He bettered his previous high score of 150 compiled at the United Nations ground, Nicosia in a 40 over game in 2015.

“It’s the best day of my life. My achievement is the result of prayers of my family and friends. It would not be possible without their support. My thanks to almighty Allah who gave me strength to reach this achievement,” Rehman told the European Cricket Network.
