Following a successful campaign during the European Cricket Championship 2023, the ECN continues to commit towards eradicating global hunger by extending its partnership with the United Nations World Food Program
November 30, 2023
The first ever Women’s European Cricket Championship (ECC-W) is just around the corner and the ECN is delighted to continue supporting this important humanitarian cause through ShareTheMeal, the official app of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, working to end global hunger in over 120 countries and territories. ShareTheMeal, their award-winning platform, allows users to choose where they want to donate to and feed families in need with as little as €0.70.
The first ever Women’s ECC is a great way of promoting women’s sports as well as bring awareness on the pressing issue of global hunger. The ECN will make use of its digital platforms to reach out to its large cricketing community, to join forces and support this humanitarian cause by raising funds to help feed hungry families around the world. This partnership is not just about cricket; it’s about uniting for a greater cause. That’s why the ECN and ShareTheMeal have partnered to set up the Bowl Out Hunger Challenge, to provide nutritious food to people most in need.
2023 is another year of extreme hunger, as many as 783 million people are unable to access food due to conflict, climate shocks, and economic collapse. However, women and girls globally are more hungry than men – 150 million more in fact.
Gender equality is a must for a world of Zero Hunger, where everyone can exercise their human rights, including the right to adequate food. So as this year comes to an end, the ECN and ShareTheMeal invite their audiences to be the change and help end hunger.
