It took 5 weeks, 21 teams, countless kookaburra cricket balls, but in a final that will go down in history, it was the Netherlands XI who hit the final blow and with a maximo into the legside, they are the champions of the ECC!
Having only lost 2 matches from 2 weeks of international cricket, the Dutch were too good for the rest of Europe. Being led by Sebastian Braat, the team was filled with talent. Many players who missed out on the World Cup squad and young players that are coming through the youth system in the Netherlands were given the platform to showcase their skills and talent and that is exactly what they have done.
Taking on the reigning champions the England XI in the final was a huge ask. However, restricting them to just 99 it was the Dutch in the driving seat. There were shaky moments in the chase when they fell to 12/2 but the likes of Ryan Klein and Braat hit some crippling blows and it left Shirase Rasool to hit a 6 to seal the victory.
