Anticipation is rising ahead of the inaugural European Cricket Championship starting in September at the Cartama Oval, Malaga, Spain.

Broadcast to a worldwide audience, the European Cricket Championship - ECC21 - is a month-long national team tournament including representative sides from England and the Netherlands. Featuring almost 100 games in September and October, 15 national teams will contest the inaugural 2021 edition. The competition will be fierce for the European Cricket Championship crown at the picturesque Cartama Oval, Malaga, Spain.

And John Howden, CEO Cricket Cricket España, Official Host Federation, could not conceal his delight at hosting the forthcoming tournament.

“Cricket España are tremendously excited to have been given the opportunity to host the inaugural European Cricket Championship, said Howden.

“Having hosted ECL19 in Spain and numerous European Cricket Series events ever since, Cricket España know at first-hand the professionalism the European Cricket Network team bring to a tournament.”

Ahead of the tournament, Daniel Weston, Founder of the European Cricket Championship (ECC) and European Cricket Network (ECN) expressed his appreciation for all the hard work and enthusiasm from everyone at Cricket España: “John Howden and Cricket España are pioneers in the way they are supporting the growth of the game,” Weston said.

“This is exactly what we value as we look to ignite cricket in Europe. The potential for the ECC is enormous and we are only just scratching the surface.”
