With over 315 players playing in the 2022 Dream11 European Cricket Championship, only one could be awarded the Most Valuable Player award. This year that player was Andy Rishton, from the England XI.

Andy Rishton wins the MVP award for the 2022 Dream11 European Cricket Championship

Taking a step away from his day job as a PE and mathematics teacher in the South of England, Rishton was returning as one of the most successful all-rounders from the 2021 edition of the ECC. Scoring 197 runs at a strike rate of 189.42 whilst also picking up 12 wickets at an economy of 8.91, it really was no surprise to see Rishton in the England XI squad for this year.

In what was a tough tournament for England - losing their first 4 matches of Championship Week and then winning every match from that point right up to the final - Rishton was able to provide performance after performance and was a key part in the resurgence of the England XI.

Scoring 200 runs over the week whilst taking 13 wickets in 11 matches is no easy task and the math teacher would have already worked out his averages for this year. Finishing with a batting average of 18.18 and a bowling average of just 13.76 will leave Rishton with a smile on his face.

One thing that would have left Rishton with a smile would have been the trophy and a Frederique Constant Highlife Automatic COSC watch which were both presented by Riad Gueche, Frederique Constant Marketing Manager for Spain.

Congratulations to Andy Rishton for another incredible tournament and good luck on the next 12 months of cricket.

A huge thank you to our partners at Frederique Constant for their support of the European Cricket Network over the course of the ECC, it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.
