European Cricket Series Frankfurt Group B got underway on another chilly day in Germany.
In the opening game, MSC Frankfurt, winners of European Cricket Series Frankfurt in July, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against FCA04 United Stars Darmstadt.
Chasing 107 to win, United Stars Darmstadt, who will be Germany’s representatives at ECL21, looked in all sorts of trouble at 43/5 inside five overs. However, wicket keeper Umar Faroz and Tahir Ahmed turned the tide to snatch victory off the final ball. United Stars Darmstadt had less bother in making it two wins out of two against FC Germania Bieber, with hard-hitting skipper Muhammad Mudassar mullering 69 off 21 balls.
Things didn’t improve for MSC Frankfurt in their next game as Wiesbaden cruised to a comprehensive win, their second success of the day to top the standings. As a result, MSC Frankfurt have it all to do on Thursday, and hope other results go their way in order to sneak into the semi-finals.
FC Germania Bieber beat winless Lemar CC Oberursel to keep their chances of reaching the semi-finals alive.
