PREVIEW: WEEK 2, MATCH 5 – Vinohrady Biancos vs Vinohrady Rossos – ECN Czech Super Series

Tune in to the live action Sunday from 12pm CEST * 11am UK * 10am GMT * 3:30pm IST from the Velvary Cricket Ground in the Czech Republic.

Team Preview for Vinohrady Biancos

Vinohrady Biancos ended Day 1 without a win, but walked away with a point from the washout in their opening fixture.  A win in their third and final round robin match should see them through to the eliminator.

Captain: Michael Londesborough

Main Wicket-Keeper: Toby Haslam

Key Players:

Vojtech Hasa will most likely open the batting.  He once hit 111 off only 50 balls in a T20 match, so let’s see if he can repeat those heroics this weekend.

Michael Londesborough captained the team on Day 1, top scoring with 14.  Unfortunately, no other batsman for the Biancos could crack double figures.  He must keep producing with the bat if they are to post a competitive score.

Edward Entwistle has taken a five wicket haul at Velvary before and looked promising in his first appearance.

Frederick Heydenrych batted number three on Saturday, as well as picking up three handy wickets for his team.

Team Preview for Vinohrady Rossos

The Rossos swept aside the Prague CC Knights by 10 runs in their opening match, before a disastrous start with the bat saw them fall by four runs to Prague Spartans Vanguards.  They will want to assert their dominance in the Vinohrady derby.

Captain: Ed Knowles

Main Wicket-Keeper: Chris Pearce

Key Players:

Ritik Tomar was very impressive with bat and ball in the opening two matches.  He rescued the Rossos innings after coming in at 8-3 in the third over and almost got them to the target.  He also impressed with the ball, opening the bowling with an economy rate of 4.5.

Kyle Gilham is probably the fastest bowler in the tournament and will be a dangerous proposition for the opening batsmen.  He is also a big hitter, scoring 21 including two sixes in their second match.

Chris Pearce impressed me behind the stumps.  The Biancos batsmen will have to be alert to his quick hands behind them.

Brigham Smith looks like a clever bowler in the middle overs, with a good slower ball.  If he can pick up a couple of wickets then it is a bonus for the Rossos.

MR MAXIMO’S TIP: VINOHRADY ROSSOS

After the disappointment of their five run loss against the Prague Spartans Vanguards, I can’t see the Rossos letting this one get away from them.  It should be a very interesting Sunday, culminating in a qualifier to join Bohemian CC in the championship weekend in Prague on 11 and 12 July.
