SC Europa shocked hosts KSV in the opening contest of the day Dream11 European Cricket Series Kummerfeld. Batting first, SCE posted 138 taking advantage of a record 53 extras (41 wides) including five penalty runs. Captain Sahel Darwesh top scored for SCE with 30, while there were contrasting fortunes for opposing KSV captain Izatullah who went wicketless in two expensive overs for 46. Compare these figures with KSV’s spinner Finn Sadarangani who shipped just nine runs in his miserly two over spell. That said, KSV were well on course for victory at 100 for no loss after just seven overs. But Hikmanullah Shinwari dismissed opener Shoaib Khan (68 off 30) and Dawlatzai for a golden duck in successive balls in the eighth over, as the Bundesliga 50 over champions eventually fell an agonising couple of runs short in an eventful start the day.

MTV Stallions (Hannover) beat VFB Fallersleben (Wolfsburg) in another thriller next up. Basit Orya's 48 (24) jumped the Stallions to a good start on their way to a competitive 110, but VFB looked on course for victory while Janardhan Siddaiaha (55 off 21) remained at the crease. However, his crucial dismissal slowed VFB’s progress. With 11 balls remaining of the innings, five dot balls followed including two wickets as VFB finished a painful five runs short of their first win of Dream11 European Cricket Series Kummerfeld.

MTV and SCE met in the third contest of the day with identical records following two wins and a defeat from their three games. Both sides knew a victory would all but seal a last four spot. Batting first, MTV posted a manageable 122 with wicket keeper batsman Brijesh Prajapati top scoring with 40, while Dawood Khan Aryubi was the pick of the SCE bowlers with 2-8 off his allocation. Hikmanullah Shinwari staged almost single-handed resistance with an unbeaten fifty for SCE but it wasn’t enough as MTV moved serenely to their second straight win of the day, bouyed by another all-round performance by Basit Orya.

After a shock defeat earlier in the day, KSV knew they needed victory in the final game on Wednesday to retain any realistic hope of reaching the last four. Restricting MTV Stallions to 95 was a good start, on the back of skipper Izatullah Dawlatzai’s amazing turnaround in fortunes with 2-5. Muhammad Samiullah and Israr Khan also took three wickets a piece in a much-improved KSV bowling performance. In reply, KSV were indebted to Mussaddiq Ahmad’s 67 off 20 balls to stay in contention for the Dream11 European Cricket Series Kummerfeld title.
