PREVIEW: MATCH 1 – Älmhult CC vs Seaside CC – Dream11 European Cricket Series Gothenburg

Tune in to the live action Monday from 10am CEST * 9am UK * 8am GMT * 1:30pm IST from the Kviberg ground in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Team Preview for Älmhult CC

Älmhult CC play three of their six preliminary matches on the opening day of the tournament, and will only return on Thursday.  They will have no time to settle and need to get off to a flying start if they want to feature on Finals Friday!

Captain: Imran Sabawoon

Main Wicketkeeper: Dinesh Adhikari

Key Players:

Sardar Sahak is a hard hitter of the ball and will likely opening the batting for Älmhult. He can also be a very economical bowling option, only giving away 5.50 runs per over in short-form cricket this season.

Imran Sabawoon is a key bowler for his team.  The skipper will probably take the new ball and bat in the middle order. He has Sweden “A” experience which will no doubt come in useful in this big match.

Asif Meer can be destructive with the bat. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him thrown up the order given the ten over format, where it makes sense to get your hitters facing as many balls as possible.

Ankith Shah is a wicket-taking bowler who will bowl in the middle overs.  It’s a very important time to bowl and so he carries great responsibility to not the Seaside innings gain momentum.

Team Preview for Seaside CC

Seaside CC have begun the 2020 domestic season with some good performances, with some new faces providing an added layer of professionalism to their cricket.  They will want to lay down a marker in the tournament opener.

Captain: Umair Chaudary

Main Wicketkeeper: Ammar Zafar

Key Players:

Usman Sarwar is in red hot form, smashing a 50 off only 17 balls in T20 cricket last weekend in the number eight position.  Surely he has to bat higher so we can see him try to replicate the fireworks!

Ammar Zafar is likely to open the batting and is coming off 46 in their last T20 match.  He also has an important job to do behind the stumps.

Rubal Pathak has international experience for Finland.  He is an accomplished batsman and can even chip in with some useful left-arm spin if required.

Aditya Arora is their leading wicket-taker in short form cricket this season and has an excellent economy rate of 5.55.

Mr Maximo’s tip: SEASIDE CC

Both these teams have some good form coming into this clash, but Seaside seem to me to have the sort of players which are going to adapt more easily to the ten over format.  For that reason, I’m predicting Seaside to win the first match of the Dream11 European Cricket Series Gothenburg.  With 24 matches coming to you over the next five days on the European Cricket Network, this is just the beginning!
