Djurgårdens IF Cricketförening, Märsta, Saltsjöbaden and Nacka complete the last four line up at Dream11 European Cricket Series Botkyrka Stockholm.

Unbeaten Nacka CC were pushed by Spånga United, who racked up a promising 122 with evergreen skipper Faisal Azeem (33 off 18 balls) and Tasal Saddiqi (31 off 12) the main contributors. In reply, Janaka Johannes’s miserly spell of 1-8 off his allocation looked to have Spånga United on course for a surprise semi-final spot. However, Sohail Zahid and Omran Zazai had other ideas and brutally let loose after the halfway mark. All of a sudden, following a series of mammoth hits, Nacka had eased to an effortless victory with two overs to spare.

Earlier in the day, Spånga United had kept themselves in the hunt for a semi-final spot with a comfortable victory over Stockholm Tigers. Batting first Spånga United racked up a competitive 97 with Janaka Johannes spanking 31 off only 9 balls - at a not too shabby strike rate of 344.44. Johannes also impressed with the ball, bagging 3 wickets as the Tigers meekly exited the competition.

Next up, Stockholm Super Kings strolled to a more than useful total of 110. Värmdö’s Noori Sanagul bagged another couple of wickets to stem the flow of runs, but both Bhargav Mahesh (44 off 27) and Shyam Balasubramanian (30 off 18) found the boundary with ease for the Super Kings. Värmdö started promisingly with Javed Ahmadzai and Ifran Nazir both blasting rapid twenties. However, Ganesh Prashanth stopped the free scoring by claiming a couple of crucial wickets and Värmdö were denied a first victory, falling short by 11 runs.

Märsta CC secured second spot in the group with a comfortable win against Stockholm International CC. Märsta were able to muster 104 on the back of Fahad Waqas’s feisty 40 off 17 balls, well supported by Dream11 MVP Points leader Hamid Mehmood, who also bagged a couple of crucial wickets. Accordingly, Stockholm International never threatened the target, finishing 21 runs short.

Saltsjöbaden comfortably saw off Alby Zalmi U23 in the final game of the day to tie up second place in the standings. Batting first, Shahid Ali, Khurshed Alam and Shah Zeb all contributed to Saltsjöbaden’s challenging total of 93. In reply, the youngsters of Alby Zalmi got off to a slow start and despite some lusty late blows closed 10 runs short.
