Spain set for first Dream11 European Cricket Series

Anticipation is rising ahead of the first Dream11 European Cricket Series in Spain, starting on Monday.

Cricket España will host the Dream11 European Cricket Series from March 2-6 at Woodbridge Oval in Albir in Spain. Six teams will take part in the opening tournament, namely the hosts Sporting Alfas, Intellectuals (Alicante), La Manga, Levante (Valencia), Madrid United and the Pinatar Pirates.

Daniel Weston, Founder of the European Cricket League (ECL) and European Cricket Network (ECN) expressed his appreciation for all the hard work from everyone at Cricket España: “John Howden and Cricket España are pioneers in the way they are supporting the growth of the game. This is exactly what we value as we look to ignite cricket in Europe. The potential for Spanish cricket is enormous and we are only just scratching the surface.”

“Cricket España are tremendously excited to have been given the opportunity for six of their clubs to showcase their talents in the inaugural Dream 11 European Cricket Series. Having hosted the ECL 2019 at La Manga Club, Cricket España know at first-hand the professionalism the ECL team bring to a tournament,” said John Howden, CEO of Cricket España.

“The Dream 11 European Cricket Series promises to ignite cricket in Spain and the European mainland and take it to another level once again. With the ECL again returning to Spanish soil in 2020 with 16 teams from 15 different countries, it is a fantastic opportunity for Cricket España to build the game in Spain from grass roots level and gain valuable worldwide exposure.

“With unprecedented prize money available we expect it to be a very competitive affair and all the clubs are chomping at the bit to play in this event. We hope Dream11 fans enjoy the event and look forward to providing some very entertaining cricket for all the viewers in all of the scheduled twenty matches.”

The first Dream11 European Cricket Series in Spain will kick-off a 20-week programme throughout the year, including 400 matches from 100 matchdays of exciting T10 cricket all across Europe - making it potentially one of the largest broadcasted TV cricket events in the world.
