Broadcast to a worldwide audience, the European Cricket Championship - ECC21 - is a month-long national team tournament including representative sides from England and the Netherlands. Featuring almost 100 games in September and October, 15 national teams will contest the inaugural 2021 edition. The competition will be intense for the European Cricket Championship crown at the picturesque Cartama Oval, Malaga, Spain.
Austria skipper Razmal Shigiwal shone on the opening day of Group B action at the Dream11 European Cricket Championship with an outstanding knock of 96 from a mere 28 balls. Walking in at No.3 against a strong Romania bowling attack, Shigiwal smashed 11 sixes and six fours to take Austria to 195 in 10 overs, the highest team score in ECC21 so far. Shigiwal's knock ensured that Austria won by 89 runs in the opening game of Group B.
On Day 7, Shigiwal was again the standout batter for Austria as they took on Netherlands XI. Chasing 136 for a surpise win, Shigiwal made a 19-ball 41 in Austria’s total of 77.
A regular for the powerful Vienna Afghan CC in multiple ECS Vienna tournaments, Shigiwal finished as the joint third-highest run-scorer in European Cricket Series Vienna 2020 with 235 runs at an average of 26.11 and a strike-rate of 213.63. He also picked up a couple of wickets.
He had an underwhelming show in FanCode ECS Vienna 2021, making just 146 runs at an average of 16.22.
However, Shigiwal has started ECC21 in style and seems certain to continue his huge impact in Spain.
