Mechelen’s Crown, Ostend’s Attack and Gent’s Star Power Set Up ECS Belgium Challenger

The ECS Belgium (Challenger), 2026 brings five Senior Mens club sides to Vrijbroek Cricket Ground in Brussels from Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August 2026. With 24 matches packed across five match days under the Belgium Cricket Federation banner, there is plenty for fans to get stuck into.

A Belgian ECS Week With History Attached

The ECS returns to Belgium with the ECS Belgium (Challenger), 2026, staged in Brussels at Vrijbroek Cricket Ground. This is a Clubs event featuring five teams, and the schedule is a full one: 24 planned matches across five match days, running from Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August 2026.

There is history in the air too. Mechelen Eagles, one of the teams in this year’s field, know what it takes to win on this stage, having lifted the FanCode ECS Belgium title in 2022. That makes their presence a major storyline as they return to Belgian ECS action with past glory already on the record.

The most recent champions, Brussels Bashers, won the ECS Belgium in 2025, but they are not among the five sides named in this Challenger field, leaving the door open for a fresh winner — or for Mechelen Eagles to add another Belgian ECS chapter to their story.

The Teams in Focus

Ostend CC arrive with the strongest overall mark among the rated teams, carrying an ECN score of 87. Their profile is built on serious discipline with the ball and in the field: they are rated 98 for bowling and 97 for fielding, alongside 64 with the bat. They also sit 160th in the ECN team rankings and have already appeared in two ECN events.

Mechelen Eagles bring a different kind of balance. Their overall mark is 81, backed by a powerful 91 with the ball, a superb 95 in the field, and 69 with the bat. Ranked 237th on the ECN list, they also have the deepest event experience among the teams listed here, with three ECN appearances behind them.

International CC Brussels have played in two ECN events, though their ECN ranking is not available, with the records marking this as their debut ECN event. Gent are in a similar statistical space: they have two ECN events listed, while their ranking is also not available because they are recorded as debutants here.

Brugge, meanwhile, step onto the ECN stage for the first time, and naturally do not yet have an ECN ranking. That adds a newcomer’s spark to a field featuring both established names and sides still building their ECN identity.

Ostend CC counter with proven wicket-taking class. Khalid Ahmadi has 91 ECN wickets, the most among players involved, and he is also the most experienced ECN player in the competition with 84 matches. Ehsanullah Ibrahimkhel adds sharpness, leading the event field with a bowling strike rate of 6.4 and a bowling average of 12.4.

Mechelen Eagles have headline batting weapons of their own. Ravi Choudhary owns the highest batting strike rate among players here at 317.0, and his Maximo rate of 20.0 is also the best in the field. Deen Islam brings consistency with the top batting average, 42.0, while Manpreet Sandhu has the highest individual score among players involved: 93 from 36 balls for Sher-e-Punjab against Nicosia Fighters on 26 Jan 2024.
