Madrid Encore Set for a New Champion as Five Clubs Chase ECS Glory

ECS Spain, Madrid Encore, 2026 brings five senior men’s club sides to La Elipa for six match days of fast-moving cricket from Monday 19 October to Saturday 24 October 2026. With 23 matches planned and last time’s Madrid winner Reyes de Arganda absent from the field, the door is open for a fresh name to own the spotlight.
The Stage Is Set in Madrid
The ECS returns to Madrid with a compact, competitive five-team line-up: Madrid Blues, Sonseca Sultans, Getafe Tigers, Madrid CC and Madrid United.
This edition lands at La Elipa in Spain, with the senior men’s clubs ready for a 23-match burst across six match days. Cricket Espana is the federation attached to the event, and the Madrid setting gives the tournament a familiar ECS feel — but the title race has a very different look.
Reyes de Arganda won ECS Spain, Madrid, 2026, yet they are not among the teams contesting Madrid Encore. That makes this a wide-open chase, with every side in the field hunting the chance to become the next Madrid champion.
Madrid Blues Lead the Numbers
Madrid Blues arrive with the strongest overall mark in the field at 75 and sit highest among these teams at 332. They have played two ECN events before, but their profile already jumps off the page: 72 with the bat, and a standout 90 in both bowling and fielding.
Sonseca Sultans are close behind overall at 73, ranked 363, and bring balance across the board with 80 batting, 72 bowling and 73 fielding. Like Getafe Tigers, they have three ECN events behind them.
Getafe Tigers sit on 67 overall, ranked 447, with 74 batting, 66 bowling and 63 fielding. Madrid CC, ranked 471 and rated 64 overall, bring the deepest ECN event experience alongside Madrid United, with both clubs having appeared in five ECN events. Madrid CC come in with 73 batting, 63 bowling and 66 fielding.
Madrid United, ranked 569 and rated 58 overall, round out the field with 62 batting, 56 bowling and 58 fielding.
Star Power Everywhere
Chaitanya Sharma is one of the headline names for Madrid Blues. He owns the highest batting mark of any player in this event at 99 and also the top bowling mark at 88, a rare double threat on paper. His biggest ECN score is an unbeaten 97 from 32 balls, made for Madrid CC against Madrid Superstars on 12 April 2025.
Sonseca Sultans have a major match-winner of their own in Vibhor Yadav. He brings the most ECN runs among players in this event with 1,739, is also the leading wicket-taker in the field with 58, and has struck 143 Maximos. His ECN bowling economy of 8.4 is the best among players here, and his best figures are a remarkable 5/5 in 2.0 overs, recorded for Janjua Brescia against Milan United on 25 April 2023.
Sonseca also have Taswar Azam, who owns the best bowling average in the event at 14.9 and the best bowling strike rate at 7.7.
The Game-Changers to Watch
Madrid United’s Hassnat Rasool brings the most explosive batting strike rate in the field at 319.0, plus the top Maximo rate at 20.0. If Madrid United are to shake up the standings, his hitting could be central.
Madrid CC have Prabin Bensam, whose batting average of 82.75 is the best among players involved in the tournament.
For Getafe Tigers, Anik Ahmed brings valuable ECN know-how, having played 72 matches — the most of any player in this event.
What to Expect
With the previous Madrid winners missing and five clubs packed into a 23-match schedule, ECS Spain, Madrid Encore, 2026 has all the ingredients for a fresh champion.
Madrid Blues carry the strongest all-round profile, Sonseca Sultans boast some of the event’s biggest individual numbers, and the rest of the field has enough experience and talent to make this anything but predictable.
