Alfas Awakening: Alfaz Del Pi Ready For A Fierce Two-Day Club Showdown

The European Cricket Festival returns to Alfaz del Pi as ECF Sporting Alfas 2, 2026 takes place from 9–10 May, bringing another weekend of high-intensity club cricket to the Costa Blanca.

Following the successful launch of the European Cricket Festivals earlier this season, Sporting Alfas once again host a travelling side, this time taking on Knights CC in a four-match T20 series played across two days at the Woodbridge Oval.

A Format Built for Pressure

Two teams. Four matches. Two days.

The structure is simple, but the demands are high. With no group stages or extended schedule, Sporting Alfas and Knights CC will face each other repeatedly, forcing rapid adaptation and tactical evolution across the weekend.

The opening match will set the tone, but it is the adjustments between games that could define the outcome. Captains and coaches will need to react quickly, whether that means reshaping bowling plans, shifting batting orders or rethinking field settings based on what has already unfolded.

A Proven Setting for Competitive Cricket

The Woodbridge Oval continues to establish itself as one of the most reliable and recognisable venues in European cricket. With its balanced conditions and 50 metre boundaries, it offers something for both batters and bowlers.

Early overs may provide movement for seamers, while set batters can take advantage of consistent surfaces later in the innings. Across a condensed two-day schedule, subtle changes in conditions could play a significant role, especially as teams return for multiple matches in quick succession.

Building on the First Festival

The first European Cricket Festival event marked the beginning of a new initiative focused on bringing communities together through cricket while expanding opportunities for clubs across formats.

ECF Sporting Alfas 2 builds on that foundation, pairing Sporting Alfas with Knights CC in another cross-community contest that blends competition with connection.

Part of a Growing Spanish Circuit

Spain’s position within the European cricket landscape continues to strengthen, with Cricket España and the European Cricket Network working together to deliver consistent, high-quality events.

Alicante has played a central role in that growth, regularly hosting tournaments that combine strong competition with professional production and global streaming.

Looking Ahead

With four matches across two days, the margin for error is minimal.

Momentum, adaptability and execution will decide the outcome as Sporting Alfas and Knights CC battle it out.

The European Cricket Festival returns to Alfaz del Pi, and another chapter in this growing initiative is about to unfold.

All matches will be streamed live on the European Cricket Network YouTube channel.
