FanCode ECS Malta provides an opportunity for ten leading Maltese teams to showcase their skills on the magnificent island of Malta, contesting 48 games over 12 days. Every game will be live streamed worldwide on the European Cricket Network and on FanCode - a multi-sport aggregator platform, from the house of Dream Sports for the Indian Sub-Continent.
Royal Strikers are the only new team in Group A and face a stiff test against tried and tested ECS performers, stacked with proven talent and experience.
Atlas UTC Knights finished top of the standings during the group stages of the 2020 European Cricket Series Malta, the only unbeaten side with seven wins. However, Knights came unstuck in the all-important game, losing the Final unexpectedly to Marsa. Knights will be looking to go one better this time around.
Southern Crusaders secured second spot in the group stages behind Knights with six wins, but fell at the semi-final hurdle to Marsa who timed their run to complete perfection. After bagging only four wins in the group stages from ten games, Marsa marched to victory following two strong knockout showings at absloutely the right time.
On the other hand, apart from Overseas, Group B is stacked with newcomers as Mater Dei, Gozo, Super Kings and Swieqi United all make their much-anticipated ECS debuts. Super Kings look the best equipped to go deep in the competition after dominating the Malta cricket scene of late, finishing first and second in the league for the past two seasons. Super Kings are most definitely strong contenders for the title on debut.
