PREVIEW: MATCH 19 – Roma CC v Bergamo – European Cricket Series Rome

Tune in to the live action Saturday from 11am CEST * 10am UK * 9am GMT * 2:30pm IST from the Roma Capannelle Cricket Ground in Italy.

Team Preview for Roma CC

Roma CC won their opening two matches on Wednesday but stumbled against the strong Jinnah Brescia side on Thursday. They will need to beat Bergamo in this match to keep their championship dreams alive.

Captain: Prabath Ekneligoda

Main Wicketkeeper: Sujith Rillagodage

Key Players:

Dinidu Marage will open the batting and can also bowl some left arm spin. I don’t think we’ve seen him bat to his potential this series, but he’s made up for it with the ball, taking six wickets, more than any other Roma CC player. He would love a big score in this crucial match.

Sujith Rillagodage is part of the Roma CC furniture at 45 years of age. He plays with the enthusiasm of a man half his age, doing a nimble job behind the wickets and showing impressive adaptability opening the batting. He will look to get his team off to a good start in their innings.

Navodh Kalansuriya is now Roma CC’s leading run scorer and he will look to maintain his consistency with the bat. It is very important that he doesn’t let his team’s innings drift in the middle overs.

Team Preview for Bergamo

Bergamo...

Captain: Jaspreet Singh

Main Wicketkeeper: Manpreet Singh

Key Players:

Manpreet Singh is a supremely talented player. He’s been a rock with the bat but it’s his wicketkeeping that I have been particularly impressed with. He is a natural with the gloves and has shown he isn’t afraid to stand up to the medium pacers.

Baljit Singh is Bergamo's "go to" man. He's probably their top all-rounder and showed why in the last match, bullying the Kings with an unbeaten 43 off 19 balls after taking 2-14 with ball in hand. Bergamo won that game in only 4.2 overs which was an incredible effort.

Jaspreet Singh captains the side. He impressed opening the bowling against Kings XI, with figures of 2 for 7. The skipper will be hoping his team’s unbeaten run continues through Saturday.

Mr Maximo’s tip: BERGAMO

Roma CC looked good early in this tournament but on reflection that was against the weaker teams in the group. Against Jinnah Brescia they couldn’t force a contest and I expect this match to be similarly difficult and so I predict Bergamo will make it three in a row and defeat Roma CC in the second match of four on Saturday.
