PREVIEW: MATCH 7 – Vinohrady CC v Prague Barbarians – European Cricket Series Prague

Tune in to the live action Wednesday from 10am CEST * 9am UK * 8am GMT * 1:30pm IST from Scott Page Field in the Czech Republic.

Team Preview for Vinohrady CC

Vinohrady won both their matches comfortably on Monday, before having the day off Tuesday. They will have to get back on their game quickly, because the Barbarians will be waiting for them on Wednesday morning in Prague.

Captain: Siddarth Goud

Main Wicketkeeper: Chris Pearce

Key Players:

Ritik Tomar is “THE TANK”. I picked him as my star player at the start of the week and he certainly hasn't let me down. He's the leading run-scorer in the series at the moment, striking at over 200 which is really good going on what is quite a difficult pitch to bat on. He also snared four wickets with the ball in their first two matches.

Siddarth Goud will captain the side and open the batting. He has been particularly effective with the ball in the series so far – his 3 for 12 against Prague Spartans broke the game wide open.

Benjamin Boulton-Smith is one of the outstanding fielders in the country. He took three catches on Monday including a contender for grab of the season and has a rocket arm too. This young gun is a run-saving machine in the field.

Team Preview for Prague Barbarians

Prague Barbarians have also won both their games so far, albeit a lot more narrowly. They looked down and out in their last match against Prague Spartans, only to turn things around in the last couple of overs and win off the second-last ball. Vinohrady CC will pose the biggest test so far.

Captain: Pradeep Gangappa

Main Wicketkeeper: Divyendra Singh

Key Players:

Sabawoon Davizi was the outstanding player in my opinion from the ECN Czech Super Series back in June and July. He has skills with both bat and ball and is a source of infectious energy for his team. He didn’t really fire with the bat on their first day of action but I do think he’s going to make a big score at some point in the tournament.

Sazib Bhuiyan loves a pressure situation! On loan from Bohemian CC, we saw him come through with the ball in the final of the ECN Czech Super Series Championship Weekend, taking 1 for 8 off two miserly overs. Yesterday, he did it with the bat, guiding the Barbarians home from an improbable situation with a sparkling 34 not out off only 14 balls.

Sumit Pokhriyal was at the other end in that tense finish last night, scoring 29 not out off 21 deliveries as part of that match-winning partnership of 58 with Bhuiyan. He seems to be finally adjusting to what's required in that key number  three position in T10 cricket.

Mr Maximo’s tip: PRAGUE BARBARIANS

This game is as difficult to call as it gets and it could come down to the fielding in my opinion. Both teams have some gun fielders and both have some liabilities out there. I ended up leaning towards Barbarians because they showed they can win from any situation in their matches on Tuesday but don’t count out Vinohrady for a second! Enjoy this mouth-watering clash on the European Cricket Network Wednesday, the first of three explosive T10 matches!
