Ariana CC sit third in the Superettan T20 with a 4-1 record. They have a stern test in their ECS Debut against Malmö CC.
Captain & Main Wicketkeeper: Nusrutullah Sultan
Key Players:
Nusrutullah Sultan is a very hard-hitting batsman, known all across the country for his powerful strokes. He will probably bat number 4 and is also a very skilful wicketkeeper.
Mahmood Babar will open the batting and is dangerous if he gets a start. He has scored two centuries in T20 cricket so has shown that he can make big scores if he can get past the initial danger period.
Dawood Shirzad will open the bowling. He is a skiddy kind of a bowler who will be looking for early wickets.
Team Preview for Malmö CC
Malmö CC have a 3-3 record in the Allsvenskan T20, the top division of Swedish cricket. This game is no gimme against an Ariana CC team with some big-hitting capability.
Captain: Qaiser Munir
Main Wicketkeeper: Zaker Taqawi
Key Players:
Qaiser Munir is a very attacking batsman and does have the ability to clear the ropes. He will relish the shorter boundaries on offer in the ECL. He will also chip in with the ball and bowls some handy medium pace.
Hammad Rafiq is technically a very good player but has been a bit out of sorts with the bat of late. He will have to make some adjustments for the format but I think he’s good enough to do that. He is a talented off-spin bowler, always looking to take wickets.
Rajan Sharma took a hat trick last week, at FIFTY-SEVEN years of age! This living legend of the Swedish game is still incredibly effective with the ball, boasting an economy rate of only 5.75 in T20 cricket this year. What an experience will be to see him trying to show up his younger counterparts.
Mr Maximo’s tip: ARIANA CC
Well I am the proud owner of a streak of thirteen consecutive correct predictions, but I really worry that this could be the end of my run because I feel this game is a genuine toss-up. Malmo CC could be expected to start favourites on account of playing in a higher division, but Ariana have a number of players who will excel in the T10 format, plus they’re in winning form. I tossed and turned, went back and forth, but in the end I had to choose. I have strong feelings for Ariana, so that has led me to predict Ariana to go Grande in the first match of Wednesday’s action. This will be a great day of cricket with plenty of talented players to watch so don’t miss it on ECN!
